Integrative Studio 2: Visual Culture (Assignment – Week 1)
For the tutorial, I decided to teach my group how to insert a photo into font on Adobe Illustrator. One of the many things I enjoy is typography. It is a great communicative tool. A lot can be said with not only the words themselves, but how they are visually presented. With this tutorial, I wanted to show one of the many ways to manipulate and personalize fonts as an easy way to enhance an overall design.
My Adobe Illustrator tutorial went smoother than I thought. During the book-making process, while I was listing out the instructions, I feared that the way I simplified each step (in words) actually overcomplicated it. Sometimes, the simplest of things can be hard to do, which is what gave me doubts when making the instructions. However, after seeing how the demonstration turned out, I think I did a good job in achieving easy-to-follow instructions. I even included tips that enhances one’s knowledge on the Adobe Illustrator program itself, allowing the further exploration of the program’s tools and capabilities.
Overall, I really appreciated my group’s enthusiasm. Though it was not all bright eyes and cheers, probably because it was too early in the morning for tired college students to fully function, simply seeing their genuine interest and their desire to learn was enough. It is a very heartwarming experience when other people get to learn and do something that you have a passion for.
