IN-PROGRESS
For our final project, we were asked to use two different mediums to represent two different timelines. With this, we were also invited to revisit previous class projects. What I chose to do was to use an object and video to further explore my growth as an artist as I ventured out to using other mediums besides my go-to: digital illustration. This was something I explored in our second Time project where I physically made a cinematoscope.
The content of my video contains documentation of past projects as I created them, revisiting the concept of our fourth Time project, my journey as an artist. I also chose to include both videos, still images, and a series of images which were main components of previous projects in the class. So overall, this project in particular represented all the work I did in this course.
The object I made for this was a iridescent plexiglass that had my own writing (in my handwriting) lasercut onto it. I chose to use this specific material to symbolize the self-reflection my project as a whole embodies. During our final presentation, I learned that the plexiglass also served as a mirror as it reflected my video in the opposite direction in a colored, almost filtered frame. If I were to further explore this project and its execution more, I would want to use a bigger sheet of plexiglass and hang it from the ceiling like an actual monitor. I also may not need the video, according to class critique, due to how there is a lot going on with my piece.
