Repurposefully Ravishing

As a project, we were asked to create a self-portrait using everyday items and/or food products without the use of glue. This prompted us to get our creative juices flowing as this project allows for an endless amount of possibilities. While majority of the class used food, I personally chose to make my self-portrait out of non-perishable items so I could preserve it. For my project, I repurposed items from my dorm (such as paper bags, plastic bags, food packaging) and things I already had (such as paperclips, twine, and wire).

Using tape and stapler wire as my main sources of adhesive, I used:

  • paper bags to create my face and the circular background
  • plastic bags to create my off-shoulder top
  • food packaging to create my hair and lips
  • paperclips to create my eyes and nose
  • twine to create my eyebrows; and
  • wire to create my sunglasses
