Re-Envisioning The 5th Floor, 2018. Fabric collage on paper.
This piece marks an experimental exploration of a space I studied and analyzed at length within the Bridge 2: Political Spaces project. This space is on the 5th floor of the New School University Center, a common seating area adjacent to central staircase. One of my primary observations was that the space felt rather sterile in it’s layout, the choice of material used for the ceiling, floor, and walls, etc. This experimental reinterpretation of the space is a physical collage made from pasting a textile over a photograph of this areas, proposing a potential change that could be implemented to the space’s layout.
