Bridge 1 consisted of a combined effort between Studio and Seminar. In Studio, we chose between artists to act as our creative mentors. Below is a slide deck depicting the process by which I researched different artists and executed the recreations and new artwork in Studio.
In parallel to the Studio aspects of the project, Seminar had us researching and executing ekphrastic poems. An ekphrastic poem is a poem written about a work of art. Modernly, they are abstract and tend to go below surface level and create narratives about the art. As referenced in the above slide deck, my creative mentor was Vincent van Gogh, and the piece that I chose to recreate and write the poem about was his painting Oleanders. Within two weeks, I drafted and edited with peer and professor revision; below is the final poem.
