Int. Seminar: Two Critical Personae

Boris

Boris works as a character designer at an animation company. As a character designer, he tries his best to create designs that would suit the personality of whatever character in the animation that he was asked to work on. For instance, if he is given a character with a timid personality, he tries to express this through design by making the character small, or with a skinny figure.

When Boris is not working for a company, he creates his own short animations, where he has the freedom to become involved in developing the personalities of the characters, as well as their appearance. Boris’ main goal when creating a character is to portray them in a real light, both design-wise and personality-wise. Boris tries his best to make his characters seem as human as possible by portraying their flaws, as opposed to making them appear perfect.

Claire

Claire works as a logo designer for major companies, individual creators, and products. Whenever she is creating a logo, she values the message most. She asks herself what kind of message, or theme, her logo is trying to communicate to the public, and its quality. Then, she values the delivery of that message. As a logo designer, her belief is that symbolism is the most effective and clever form of delivering a message visually.
