Max Neuhaus’s Sound Installation Times Square
It was very hard to find the installation. The chaos; sounds, lights, people… It was so frustrating. I had no idea what we were supposed to see, hear or experience. Without having any idea, we just stepped on the installation and walked away. We had no clue what we were looking for. After couple minutes of searching we couldn’t find anything so we decided to look it up on the internet so we could see what we were supposed to experience. After searching it, we realised that the we actually stepped on the installation and passed through it. This was very surprising and exciting. So different from what I expected, imagined. We also found out that we were supposed to hear something while we are standing on the installation, however it wasn’t possible to hear anything. Everything was so loud I could not hear a different sound, I could only hear the sounds I usually hear in New York, only louder. We waited there just so we could hear something between the sirens, horns and people talking. After waiting for couple minutes, finally I just heard this sound similar to a whistle and an engine. It was almost impossible to hear the sound. I believe that I wouldn’t be able to find it, if we didn’t searched it.
