•Historical Background or Context of the story: There are four stories being told in chronological order, about four different people

•Order: Deniz, Kenna, Anna, Alyriana (one minute each)

Our team is using the color blue for our four-minute audio piece. We are telling four different stories, each one relating to our families. Since this is a common theme, we decided we would feature at least one audio recording made by a family member in our story. To create a flow between all four stories, we decided to tell them in chronological order: Deniz, Kenna, Anna, Alyriana. None of our audios include our own narration. We used recordings from others and soundtracks.

Stories

Deniz

The color blue represents Deniz’s entire life. Her name means “sea” in Turkish which is remembered by its color; blue. Her parents loved going to swimming since the day they got married and they were sure that they wanted to have a baby with this name. So they raised her, love her name and the meaning. She didn’t spend a single day without seeing the sea. Their lives and family trips were always shaped around this passion they had.

Kenna

The color blue reminds Kenna of her twin brother. As a child, her mother often dressed them in matching outfits and since she didn’t want her brother to be dressed in pink she often wore blue. To this day her brothers favorite color is blue, his room at home is blue, his eyes are blue, and he even typically wears blue clothing. Growing up with a twin brother has made Kenna the person who she is today and considers her twin brother her other half.

Anna

Blue is a color of home to Anna. She thinks of her mother, her old house, the music she grew up listening to, and the color of the wildflowers in her yard. She always grew up with support from her family, and that’s what got her where she is today. Her family was sad to see her go, but are excited to see what she’ll do.

Alyriana

In Ariana’s story, the color blue represents the beach and the house she stayed in. Every year since she was a baby her and her family took a trip to the beach. They stayed at the same house every year, which was right by the water. This was the one time her entire family was able to come and spend a week together. They would spend their days on the beach and nights at the amusement park. About four years ago the house that they stayed at was sold and later torn down. Since then, her entire family has not taken a vacation together.
