- The reason why this is a location full of activists ?
- 40 years ago nyc was broke so they were cutting back from hospitals and the really poor people in that period was located in this area. When people tried to heat their homes on their own at that period, they burned down the buildings and now they are transformed into parks
- Further the idea of sustainability through the parks
- After activists try to create new ideas and win, the city acts like it was their idea and they clear all of the activists from history. This is the reason why this museum was created, to keep the history of activists.
- Example: Cycling
- In some European countries there are penalties towards residents who are not biking.
- The reason why this is a location full of activists ?
- Gentrification
- Definition: It is a process of renovating deteriorated urban neighborhoods by means of the influx of more affluent residents.
- They did not want this area to go through gentrification because the people living their worked so much for this area voluntarily. They did not want to loose their homes that they worked for.
- They created public spaces
- Squad Room (in the basement)
- This is a squad room that was taken over by a group and renovated/organized in a way that they could use.
- This is mostly done by music groups, they create a space for themselves to play.

- It is garden that is operated by the people who lives in the neighborhood
- There rules hanged by the entrance both by the government and the people living in the neighborhood
- They are not happy with the rules the government hanged on the entrance
- When they are designing this park they do not have to get permits because it is their own area that they created
- This park fights climate change everyday by;

- making/growing food
- workshops
- energy
- medicine
- composting
- The reason why they can do all of this is because they are not connected to the government
- The decorations they hanged are all recycled
