Visual Culture Studio Bridge 3 Final

Heres the video that I created ( I was not able to embed it, so I just posted it onto youtube)

Artist Statement:

The video focuses on what happens in your brain when you see an artwork. After doing all the research I wanted to explain what goes on in the brain in a simple way where it is easier for everyone to understand. I thought of the brain to have gears, where if you see a piece of art, to get to the part of the brain that lets you see the piece there are a lot of signals that take place and many parts of the brain is affected. As one gear moves, the one touching it moves, and gradually all of the gears are moving. This represents how we tend to use all the parts of the brain when we think and see an art piece. This represents how the brain experiences the art that we see. My main aim was to explain how the viewing art, leads to all parts of the brain getting simulated and worked, potentially helping the person experience art in the best way possible. Once the art is experienced, it helps the person understand how they feel about it the piece, maybe jog a memory they may have about something that is in relation to the piece depending upon their background.

Process:

Initially I was really confused as to what I could have done, because the brain is just a large topic.  So I started off making a brain storm, where I explored the different topics that I could focus on. I start off hoping to be able to do create a piece what focused on a brain scan called FMRI, upon talking to Amy, I realized that working that relating to five senses may be a better idea.

I then went on to creating story boards, which changed drastically as I start making the video. I combined various different softwares to create the animation. I mainly used after effects, illustrator and photoshop, to create the animation videos and combined all of them together on premiere pro.
