Drawing and Imaging Micro/Macro Project

We had to work recreating something that was seen through a micro or macro lense. We started off with exploring cells and the kind of texture that they create when looked through the micro scope. I then went on to look at cancel cells, but I felt as if cells is something that maybe commonly done. I was keen on focusing on something that is different, something that if it were zoomed in no one would be able to guess what it was, initially I started looking at leaves, and the zoomed in version of the leafs which shows all the veins, and then I came across butterfly wings which when zoomed in looked very different, and had unexpected amounts of pattern and texture.

I then tried to recreate this pattern of the butterfly wings using copic markers. Here is an image of my experimentation:

I was able to get the shapes and colors of each section and petal, however I was not able to blend it as well and I was not able give the correct texture. When working on my final piece, I tried to change up the medium that I used hence I switched from Copic markers to oil pastels. I was able to get the colors, shapes and shadows however I was not able to figure out how to add texture.

I tried to include the texture digitally, however I was unable to get a result for it. I tried to use the texture that is found in the corduroy fabric, as I felt it looked extremely similar to the texture on the wings. I tried to create the texture of the corduroy fabric on photoshop and then overlay that texture onto the piece that I made, however I had a tough time doing it.
