Overall I really liked watching the video because it really helped me understand the different ways in which each artist works and understand their creative processes. Each artist seemed to have a very different way of working and had different styles.
The artist that I found most interesting was Josiah McElheny, I was really fascinated with the type of medium that he works with- glass. He is able to create such finely crafted glass objects, he is able to combine that with taking photographs and text to be able to evoke the viewers to think about memory.
I really like how the glass that he uses is kind of reflective to the point where you can see the other glass sculptures reflecting onto the glass.
I also really like the way that he mentions that this type of technique has an oral tradition where the technique is only passed on person to person. I think it is very interesting because it still has some amount of a personal touch.
The second artist who I found to be very interesting was Mike Kelley. I was very interested by the way he organizes his performance pieces and creates his work and adds meaning to it based off of what everyone else thinks it means. I also find his base meaning extremely interesting which is about the system of authority and attack. He is also able to kind of highlight the issue of trauma and victim culture, by doing this he is able to conclude to the fact that all kinds of behavior which could potentially result in some form of abuse.
