Becoming/Designing Non-Human

For Designing Non-Human project, I went to Washington Square Park to observe squirrels. Before I design, I imagine myself as a squirrels, and I thought the food is most important part of their life. Espeically, in New York, it rains and snow a lot, so they might had hard time to save their food in a safe palce. Due to that reason, I thought if there is small box on the side of the tree, then squirrels can save few foods in there and they also can hide or rest. When I design this, I also thought about environment because if this harm nature it is not a good design for both of them. For the bottom part of the tree, I made small hole, so squirrels can save their food and they can even sleep in there anytime.

I think the meaning to design for the non-human is an important process before the designer design something for human. In my opinion, designers need to think about the public interest, so both non-human and human.
