POSTCARD FROM THE FUTURE: LONDON
I based my postcard on the future of London with sea levels expected to rise and eventually put London underwater I researched proposed solutions and ideas. The most prominent idea was to have floating ‘Lillypads’ on the coast for Climate change refugees, they would be able to hold up to 50,000 people and have everything necessary to live on there. I thought this idea was interesting and saw it becoming more of a tourist attraction if it were to be made, hence why I made the image for the postcard. There is a flap that covers half the postcard illustrating other proposed ideas that could potentially deal with sea level rise such as elevated cycle paths, A Lido Line (swimming as a mode of transport) and a garden bridge/walkway, that was proposed during the Olympics. These are all things I imagine could be implemented in the Future in London.
I put the images together and used a ‘futuristic’ font to type ‘Greeting From London’. I played the design on a card with a silver foil border.
