On January 11, Interdisciplinary Science faculty member, Jennifer Wilson, presented her work on  with students in her course ” Data Design and Social Justice” at the Mathematics Association of America Session on Humanistic Mathematics at the  Joint Mathematics Meeting in San Diego, CA.  Jennifer co-designed this course with graduate student Elena Paunova, who is completing her graduate work in Data Visualization and is a professional Data Consultant.  Because this course is designed to promote social justice, the students participated in an on-campus activity designed to engage the public in data as it relates to policy. These public activities associated with the Writing On It All project allowed students and faculty on campus  to think quantitatively and graphically about the impact of proposed legislative changes to immigration policy. Alexandra Chasin and Zina Goodall co-founded and ran the Writing On It All project.
