Research: Vessels

What is a Vessel?

A vessel is defined as a large container. Usually holding liquid, it is also known for being a boat or a ship.

A vessel can really be anything that holds anything. The term vessel doesn’t have to be so literally used, it’s more of an idea. A vessel doesn’t have to be physical also, it can be an idea or system that is preventing something/one from doing a specific thing.  For my research, I want to focus on Factory Farming. This idea kept coming up when I was trying to think of unordinary vessels and what they are used for.  I saw the cages that the animals are held in as the vessels because the cages are holding the animals. From this idea of factory farming and cages, I created this mini image series depicting the bad ‘vessels’ of factory farming and the good ones of independent farming.
