Space/Materiality Project #2

We start project 2 by doing some axonometric drawings

Then we draw a larger cube and divide them into 3 pieces by using different colors.(each has 9 cubes)

Next, we need to make  maquette for each object

It takes a long time for me to figure out how to make the maquette

After making the maquette, we use 3 differing materials to make the 3 sculptures, The first two are plaster and wood.

We use foam core to make plaster mould

The first time I pour the plaster, it leaks SO badly, so I try to use some tape to fix it ⬆️

But it still leaks too much!! So I use a lot of clay to cover the surface.⬆️

For the third piece, I chose the black acrylic and use laser cut to cut each surface.

I also engrave some drawings and my name on it.

The zigzag shape of the edges helps me connect each piece in a much  easier way. ⬇️

My final work ⬇️

I change the wood piece a little bit, so they can’t go into one cube anymore.

And I didn’t sand my plaster piece a lot because I like the texture of it, so there’s a contrast between the plaster piece and the other two which have flatter surfaces.
