Postmodernism Favela
In my last project, I wanted to depict the variety of the architecture, the time and history are frozen in it. I am majoring in architecture and wanted to connect my project to the path which I decided to go. In this project, I presented the ideas of Postmodernism Favela. I created the different building and historic structures on the layers paper. The paper had layers due to the reference of historical layers in the buildings; it had an external part, as well as internal. I asked people to color the building, creating a game or coloring book for them. It almost became a childish work, contrasting the difficulty of real building structures. The markers were given in neon color symbolizing something entirely new, as neon is a color of postmodernism. The back of the paper buildings had meaningful quotes, containing deep thought about architecture, time, and history. The paper building also has a clear sticker on the back, to connect it to the board, which was transparent. I used the acrylic board to emphasize the transparency of time on the history of architecture. The past is transparent. When people finished coloring, they had to put their building in the place they wanted creating a personal civilization and society. And if we would turn the board to the back side, we would see the, meaning behind those iconic structures.
