Internship Description:
My Internship was over the span of a month. I was a creative intern at I.AM.ISIGO. A multidisciplinary fashion house in Africa. Over my one month at I.AM.ISIGO I worked at their showroom and workshops in Lagos, Nigeria. Within one month, I participated in creative workshops, went on field trips and given the opportunity to design and create for the brand.

How has this project been impactful or transformative — for you personally or for those this work has impacted:
This experience has helped me to understand the importance of a process. Alot of ideas I had hesitated to execute due to my anticipated complexity is now a lot easier to visualize. Working at I.AM.ISIGO helped me understudy a lot of processes first hand that are crucial to the running of a business and the execution of a creative idea. I was able to understand the journey of a creative process from start to finish; eventually noticing the importance of planning and organization. I realized that having those two skills make any task possible; that is when also paired with good time management.

What would you do differently? How would you advise a student who is going to do something similar?
I would take more photos of my experience.

How is this experience connected to your academic work?
Working so closely to the creative director of I.AM.ISIGO, has helped me get an idea towards what my daily life could be post-grad, if I decide to run my own business. It has also allowed me to learn about efficiency and time management strategies in fashion production; which I will carry on into my academic work.
