Bridge 1: Image and Text

For this project, I decided to use “Creation of Adam” painted by Michelangelo. The text I generated focused on the way I felt when I observed the painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. To reflect the emotions I wrote about, I created my own heavenly scene on a canvas with acrylic paint. I wanted the viewers to experience the same serenity and intimacy with my painting as I did with Michelangelo’s. I wrote the text overlaying the sky in a pale pink color. The text follows the shape of the cloud outlines and is unevenly spaced in the negative area, because it gives a sense fragility and movement. I chose to make some words larger than others to emphasize how they stood out to me.
