In a brief summary or analysis, the marks on his body are lies he tells himself to contradict and distract him from his own memories of killing his wife. In one scene when Leonard looks into the mirror and doesn’t recognize himself, it made me understand more of his short term memory condition because he looks at the mirror not to look at himself, but to analyze his life and what has happened. The quote that he said was “we all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are.” Not only do these scenes portray his condition and the complexity of time, but the way that the film is distinctively edited.
