Observation of Art in Context Over Time

Rite McBride is an American artist who was born in Des Moines, Los Angeles, also based in Dusseldorf, Germany. She considers her a sculptor; however, she does not like to be associated with what many people like to think her art is, such as industrial design, architecture, sculpture, and installation work. Her work Bells and Whistles was made in 2014, at the time that the University was being built during her mid “career” work. The material that she works with for this installation is a brass pentagonal duct that looks like it is part of the inner workings of the University ceilings. This material is typical for the artists, as she works with sculptures made out of metal, brass, etc.
