I thought the lecture was given on virtual reality (VR) was very informative. The only prior knowledge I had was using an Oculus Rift at my friend’s house. I also remember when the New York Times cardboard glasses were sent out in the mail and worked with a downloadable appl. I thought learning about the specific people who helped to move the technology along was very interesting. It’s not something you learn about every day, but it’s a place where technology has become extremely innovative. It makes me think of every movie where they have some sort of virtual reality that they can all step into because the planets so ruined, I know that has been a topic for multiple movies recently. Although, I hope it’s not where future is leading us. I understand that the VR is usually for gaming but I was glad that learn about people who are using it for good and education purposes. Specifically, the team that took events happening in the world and shared it through the VR headset to make it a little more personal with the viewer. I’m happy this technology is being used for good and hope to follow where it heads. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out on VR in the future.
