1st Idea:

To create a mini installation / social experiment in one of the buildings at our school. I really want to shed light on the fashion industry as a network, & reflect on the idea that it is still taboo for people to wear other genders clothing. The idea that we still assign a gender to a piece of fabric is still a construct that I’ll never understand. On the rack I want to place different pieces & just ask their opinion on the garment & how they affiliate themselves with it. This will be constructed in a video format so you can really get a sense of their relationship with the piece.

2nd Idea:

This is a continuation from my 1st idea, I will still have the same rack format, but instead of just simply asking for their opinions on the garment. I would like for them to actually dress in the pieces. I want to collect pieces that in history were born by both sexes & pieces that are still sculpted to fit within one gender. After they put on the outfit, I’d like to get their immediate reaction, & a response to it. If possible, I’d think it would be cool for them to walk around & see how they feel.
