SPACE/MATERIALITY: COMMUNITY – Project III

                                                                         SPACE/MATERIALITY: COMMUNITY

                                                                                                 Overall Look

The final look of the model as a whole looks like a cage. It is a hexahedron-like structure with its top and bottom opened. The four sides of model is structured with bars each bedded into and connecting the top and the bottom. Inside of the structure, I put thin plastic sticks and arranged them in random directions. They are crossing each other at some points. And from outside, they can be seen through the wood bars.

                                                                                                        Detailed Look

This look shows the joint structures of the model in detail. The first look is the joint I used for the upper structure of the model. And the second look is for the bottom part of the model. For the upper part, I figured out that it would be more convenient to assemble the model at final step if I made simple connection for each end. To allow the structure be able to support the whole structure, I used a joint where is connected to each other by a hole, with a protrusive end going through it.

                                                                                                        Analysis -scanned

For the analysis, I explored through mechanisms of the model I created and detailed components of it. I mainly focused on the arrangements of joints and how each materials are connected to other parts.   To make it clear, I tried to depict the parts transparent where they consist of complicated mechanism. The drawing shows what type of joints I utilized in order to connect the components to each other, and to support the whole structure. It shows each and every material I used to build the model.
