Today in Olga Breydo’s Architectural Narratives, the class walked and documented the High Line, where tonight from 6:00-7:00 pm visitors can take a class called “Roving Grasslands.” At Eugene Lang and throughout the New School, classes often take advantage of our place in New York. Along with the visit to the park, students are also reading New Yorker art critic Peter Schjeldahl’s 2012 essay “Moving Pictures,” which accounts for the Barnes Foundation’s move from the Barnes estate to Downtown Philadelphia. Olga’s presenting this move in light of the Whitney’s move from the Brutalist Marcel Breuer building to Renzo Piano’s new building at the edge of the High Line.
Any additional thoughts about the essay or the trip to the High Line (or later this week, The Whitney) are welcome in the comments. Also, any photos I receive I’ll post here (korbs@newschool.edu).
