New First-Year Writing faculty member Joshunda Sanders is reading (and singing!) Thursday night, September 13, as part of LITERAOKE. The event is being hosted by the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, 112 West 27th Street, Suite 600. The event begins at 7p.
Joshunda has also recently written up an interview with Jacqueline Woodson, National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, for Kirkus Review. (Note: Woodson once took a writing workshop at the New School with Margaret “Bunny” Gable.) About Woodson, Joshunda writes:
Woodson reminds readers of the complexity of young people by subtly weaving themes of belonging and recognition through friendship (and friends who are like family) into her work. In more than 30 titles, she has invited youth who are so often shut out of discussions into conversations about what connects them to the rest of the world.
