Assignment #2 – Observation

Objective: Spot and collect 20 images of the faces, animals, letterforms, numbers, geometric shapes, etc., that are created by wear, repair, time, decay, spillage, update, replacement, light, shadow, rain, or snow. Some of these things only reveal themselves when you look at them sideways, upside down, or in reverse.

During this process, I learned that almost anything can create inspiration. Looking around at my surroundings trying to look past the expected and see the unexpected, I realized that everything can have multiple ways to view them. The ground (concrete specifically) had so many designs and artistic elements to it that I’d never noticed, just walked over every day.

The most challenging part turned out to be learning how to use the software and become acclimated with both Mural and the Learning Portfolio. It turned out to be somewhat of an extensive process, and took me longer than I expected. I was surprised by how different each of my classmates’ displays were, although we all were in similar areas and are in the same class. We all saw the world in different ways, which was both surprising and inspiring to me.
