Two objectives;
One: Using the medium of photography, transport a three-dimensional experience of an actual object or sculpture into a two-dimensional visual experience (drawing, collage, digital illustration, etc.).
Two: Draw a simple nonrepresentational design, then translate the drawing into a three-dimensional piece of sculpture of any material (s) you choose, such as cardboard, fabric, paper, wire, etc.
Here are some pictures of other angles of my 3d piece:
While completing this project, I answered multiple questions for myself. Firstly, how can this be done? In order to complete the objective, I had to understand the relationship between form and proportion, because I had to translate both elements into my 3d and 2d depictions. Because of this, there were some aesthetic differences in both designs. The exact proportions were not the same in the copies I made, and it was hard to replicate line thickness and shading. In the 3d piece, I had to deal with connecting the elements together, and figuring out how to make the legs of the piece stable enough to hold the piece up. In the 2d piece, I didn’t have to think about any of this, and just focused on form and design.
