Prompt:
Employing unique mark-making techniques, students create an invented past and present landscape in
two parts: half hand drawn in ink/half digitally rendered in Illustrator, with the goal of the hand
mimicking the digital method and vice versa.
Concept:
I based this project on a photograph of me in my hometown. I wanted to make the piece based on my Irish heritage, pulling elements from my hometown in Missouri and my home country. I used a mark based on my family’s ancient set of arms to bring in the Irish element. The monster I added is based on a monster within Irish mythology. The pulling of these elements together created a meaningful piece connecting elements of my past.
