Drawing and Imaging: Audible Montage Narrative

For this project, I started up with choosing a song, which is “Catch Me” from Yellow Claw. Here are the lyrics:

In another world where you and me

We show our hearts, yeah, entirely

Deliver me from reality

And take me to my fantasy

[Chorus]

Tell me we can make this real

If we can follow what we feel

I’m running but I’ve reached the edge

And now I’m falling, so promise that you’ll catch me

Promise that you’ll catch me

So with this theme, I want to create a montage that expresses the feeling of the girl. From the lyric, the girl is drowning and is trying to find herself. She is kind of lost from the reality and want someone to save her and take her to her fantasy. I started up drawing a hand with watercolor, which is in a motion of reaching and trying to catch something.

I scanned it to the computer and used these photos to create my poster.

I used a lot of magnetic lasso tool and magic wand tool to create the layer mask, and I also changed the opacity and layered a lot of the pictures to create the techno and futuristic texture of the background. I used color balance and raw camera filter to make the hand brighter and more vivid so it fits better to the background. I want to show how the hand is trying to catch the heart of the girl and pull her from the chaotic reality that she’s facing, bring her to her fantasy. The final work looks like this:

I really like this assignment, and I got to explore more uses of the layer mask and different aspects in photoshop. I learned a lot and really had fun while making it.
