- The evening wear he designed were conventionally constricting and impractical as anything by his contemporary, Dior.
Explanation:
- I chose this gown because I was so fascinated by the design of the collar. The silhouette is definitely very unconventional yet the whole dress is very simple and elegant. Those are elements I like with my own design so I chose this dress.
Relationship with design work:
- I think this dress is highly related to my design work because I also like to play with the silhouette. I also like architectural element in fashion, and the shape of this collar in that time period makes me want to learn more about this dress and the designer.

- 1967 wedding dress, by Cristobal Balenciaga.
- Very unconventional in the shape and material, especially with a wedding dress.
Explanation:
- I chose this wedding dress because I truly think it is a daring design, and is very interesting. It challenges the traditional wedding gown, and the material along with the sharp lines make this dress really ahead of the era. I want to learn the historical background and learn more about this dress.
Relationship with design work:
- This is also related to my design work because I personally love geometric and triangles. This whole silhouette of the dress is an triangle and very architectural. So I really like this design and the designer.

– “For Spring 1952, Hermes Paris devised these wonderfully simple dresses that have anything but a simple effect. Plain lengths of fabric were screen printed with painted details like lapels, buttons and pockets. The fabric was then cut and sewn into the clever dresses shown here.”

- I chose this picture because I was alway attracted by the elegance of Hermes, and I love how classy this dress look. I like how elegant this model look in the picture.
