The street arts, looking almost like some random split paint, blend into the ground with the dark gum stains. Inspired by the street arts, I was brought back to the time when I was still a kid, drawing on the ground with my friend in a summer afternoon…… The sun dragged my shadow so long that it hovered above my “art works” and stretched far away. We would wait for our parents to come back from work, wishing for a snack from my mom or ice cream from the old ladies sitting beside the front door.
I therefore created a memory web, which included a lot of details of my memory which would help me with making my collections of post cards.
During our integrated studio class last week, we did a collage with the photos we took to further expand our imagination. We did a transparent collage, which I think was super cool. I thought that it would be a great idea to include some of my drawings into the collage since my memory is about my friend and I drawing on the ground when I was young. I tried something bold during class and just played around. It turned out good, and I really liked it. However, I’m not sure if my final piece would be something like that though……
I want to include several elements into my post card:
- hand drawings
- my friend
- dog
- ice cream
- 5:00 p.m. sunset
- my stretched shadow
- my feelings
Therefore, with those ideas in mind, I sketched out my collection’s basic design.
It seems to be very simple, however, there’s actually some really interesting design in my post cards that is related to my memory. With that design, my post card become more interesting. But most importantly, that little design blend the real me and the memory together, showing a clash of reality and memory and shows how I can remember the scene clearly.
Here’s some hint of my work, and I’ll reveal it on class 🙂
