First Project: Green Roofs Presentation
For this project, we worked as a group and researched about Green Roofs in New York city. We looked into many different aspects such as what is green roof, types of green roofs, the history of green roof, benefits of green roof and the new technologies about green roof.
As I was doing research, I learned a lot of the “Urban heat island effect” and the big data really surprised me. I think by doing this project, the research really motivated me to use public transportation and live more sustainable because we are the ones who’s going to be responsible for the bad causes.
Second Project: Infographic
In this project, we worked as group of twos and we created this food sustainability map. The two different kinds of food we chose are cabbages and bottled water. We used the flow chart above to demonstrate how these food are sustainable or not sustainable. We truly looked into the different chains of these foods from production to consumption.
Project 3: Fabric Reuse Pop-up Store “Too Fast”
I think this is the most interesting project among all, because we are creating something new to deal with the problem we are trying to solve: “Fast Fashion Waste”. We realized how people tend to waste garment more when it’s fast fashion which is cheaper. People buy clothes in a faster pace, but throw away clothes in a really fast pace as well because of it’s price.
We created a pop up store that can accept used garment for an exchange of store credit or cash. We will redesign the used garment and create something new out of them for sell. Our main goal is not for profit, but to educate people about the down sides of wasting fabric and ways to prevent it. We made a pamphlet which we will be given out to the customers in our store.
