Why Are Young People Pretending to Love Work? by Erin Griffith
This article examines the newfound millennial hustle culture and (aggressively) loving what you do. Entrepreneurship it bigger than career, it about ambition, grit and hustle. It is very easy to see how this could all be a scam, after all, the more work is done at the bottom the better off everyone is at the top. The way that hustle culture is described in the article makes it sound almost cult-ish. It’s day in-day out, the more you ‘grind’ the happier you are, or are supposed to be. To me it all sounds like it’s going to end in an incredible burnout. Where does it end? When will we consciously realize that this is pointless and make the decision to change how things are done?
