The Mysterious Landscapes of Hercules Segers

nd Sketch 1:

1. It is a skull with a few cracks and dents.

2. It has different lines and shadows.

3. The light is coming from the left side so the shadow falls on the right side and within the dents and cracks on the skull.

4. This is the first piece of art that caught my eye because of the tradition that follows during the Hindu funeral. When I lost my grandfather 3 years I realized all the customs involved in it. So one of them involves smashing the skull before burning the body. Therefore when I saw the skull that’s what I thought of.

Sketch 2:

1. This sketch covers a scenery of the mountains with a river flowing in the middle with trees and bushes all around.

2. They are a lot of lines, shades and gradients involved.

3. The light is coming from the left side which helps create a lot of shadows. Along with that, there are a lot of lines involved which will create an interesting etching project.

4. I like it but at the same time, there is a sort of sadness to the painting.

Sketch 3:

1. This sketch shows a scene of the valley with bushes and a tower right in the middle of the painting.

2. They are a lot of lines, shades and gradients involved.

3. The light is coming from the left side which helps create a lot of shadows. Along with that, there are a lot of lines involved which will create an interesting etching project.

4. I like this one because it is very soothing and at the same time it reminds of the small town that is right next to my hometown.
