It is weird to see my face up close. I feel like my perception of myself changes every time I see myself.
I enjoy using colors that are more abstract, rather than natural in portraits. Layering primary colors was fun and created interesting dimension.
The artists name who’s style I based this off of is Boziana Doncheva. I like this drawing because it feels more expressive than portraits I’ve done in the past. I was less concerned with making it look exactly like me, and more so tried to encapsulate the artist’s style.
This iteration is based off of the artist CB Follett. She uses collage and cutouts to represent people and tell stories. I found this iteration to be interesting because it is in a style that I am unfamiliar with, however it was fun to interpret myself in a new way.
