Circle Line Field Trip

In Sustainable Systems, one thing I’ve for sure gained is a better knowledge of the water system in New York City. Observing the piles and piles of trash and experiencing the unpleasant smells in the streets, I’ve never thought to imagine how clean New York City water is and how much effort goes in to keep the water pure. The Circle Line, along with the natural dye experiment from water collection sites, has helped me understand the safety of the water in the city. It was nice to learn by experiencing and actually witnessing the sites rather than watching a video in a class. The view was also intriguing as I have never visited the west side of Manhattan where the Hudsons River lies. One of the most intriguing information from the speaker was where poop eventually ends up in the city. I’ve never thought about where it must go after it has been flushed from the toilet.
