Process
I started with making a elongated ball with aluminum foil. I used three in total.
I wrapped the foil ball with clay. I had to mix green clay and yellow clay to achieve the lighter green that I wanted.
I started with the nose as it is the most prominent feature on the face.
I added some clay on the cheeks to give volume and smoothed it out.
I realized the side of the sculpture looked too awkward. The back of the head was too flat and there wasn’t much of a chin so I added some clay and smoothed it out in those areas.
I added the eyes and the neck to aide in standing up properly by itself.
Final
After I’ve finished all the parts, I set it aside for a day to dry. I noticed that as it was drying, the head tilted a little to the right and the figure looked like it was shrugging in shyness. I thought it would be interesting to emphasize this characteristic by adding a blush on his cheeks.
