THE ASSIGNMENT
for this assignment, we were all given a month to make a calendar layout through InDesign. Our first steps were to find a magazine, book/images to use in our form. Once we had found the photos that we liked and would work, we then scanned them and started to test some possible designs.
inspiration from Pinterest
this February spread is my main inspiration as to the layout of how I would like my calendar to look. I think that this fun game board like concept would be amazing to create. Having the date boxes go around the outside with my design in the middle, it’s different and not like any other designs I’ve personally seen.
MY SCANS:
as to what I would use to fill, I am still unsure. I have found a collection of different drawings from a book I got while in Italy. This book is filled with many various sketches, from food and flowers to animals, bikes and landscapes. I think that this art style could give a fun retro style.

MY FIVE DESIGNS
Updated Finals
As you will see above, this image is more or less my final display for November. When I look at this, my eyes are satisfied and happy. It is straightforward yet sweet. I love the clean, sharp, rich look that this layout delivers, and I believe that it represents the month of November. Quiet before the storm that is December. The choice of the two swans in love was one which I adore.
When deciding how to go about my November spread, I wanted to try and not stick to any northern or southern hemisphere culture. I did question going down the thanksgiving route since Parsons is intensely American based. I also questioned going down the summer route for Australia. However, I wanted this calendar to be versatile anywhere during any time of the season.
