PROJECT

CONCEPT ONE

Video: Skateboard scene
Sound: Opera / peaceful mindfulness music

My first proposition would be a video of classic skateboard scenes and clips that would be paired with a sound of silk something soft and calming to the ears. I personally find skateboarding videos to be rather relaxing and will often watch them to calm down for a day.

However, the sound that is going on in these videos can be rather loud and sometimes violent. Therefore, partnering the video with soft sounds could transfer this rather edgy and dangerous sport to a calming viewing.

CONCEPT TWO

Video: Ballet scene
Sound: chaotic sound heavy metal, busy restaurant kitchen,

My second proposition is to use clips from a ballet performance, Swan Lake perhaps. I would then pair it with a chaotic sound such as the noises from a busy huge restaurant. Although these two are quite different I believe that they link together.

For instance, a ballet performance when you are the viewer is peaceful, beautiful, and mesmerising. Yet backstage and the lead up to the show is the opposite: it’s busy, hectic, painful, stressful. Just like a kitchen can be on a busy night, but once that food is out the door if you are dining at the restaurant, you are calm and relaxed and happy as you would be watching the ballet.

Final Thoughts,

I believe that I have perfectly produced the idea which I had written down during our first class session. I had a clear vision in my mind of what I wanted to create and successfully did so. My film took some time to find the perfect song which I would then match my film to. once I had selected the beat I had then gone into my video file and started the search. I wanted to create a nice flow while also keeping the viewer engaged. I wanted a quick smooth transitions with clips that were all the same. to do this I watched all my clips ands wrote down what order I believe would work best. aiming for a wide shot cut to a zoomed in shot back to a wide frame. this was the pattern you may see in my edits. while moving the cutting the clips I wanted to match any movement as close as I could to. the beat drops and flow in instruments. you will see this with many skateboard movements going up and down a ramp, when someone is in the air and has landed at the same time or has simply rode across the path.

when editing the colour of the film I think that it honestly works in both colour and black and white. yet black and white can tend to allow the view to. truly focus on what I’m trying to show rather than the bright orange construction worker in the background.

I like this assignment and thought that it was a great fun way to get to learn premier pro.
