My life as an artist started when I was three when I thought it was a wise idea to move to bigger things than my sketchbook, those bigger things were my walls, my mother thought otherwise. Since then, I have grown to become the artist I am today. I am a multimedia artist who is exploring and having fun while learning along the way. My work is influenced by my surroundings and my past life experiences. I like to create detailed pieces that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I push myself to create pieces that I like, and that will make me happy. I want to make people feel things when they look at my work. Whether it is happy or sad, shocked or impressed, I want people to feel for I believe that engaging the audience can give art a new meaning.

I know when a piece of my work is finished for I will be filled with pure joy and extreme excitement. I enjoy sharing my work and love to see others reactions. My passion is art, for it makes me happy and being able to create gives me a purpose.

looking back and reflecting

After receiving my letter, I wrote at the start of the term I believe that the person who wrote that is very different from the person I am today. Throughout my seminar and studio classes (and all my classes for that matter). I know that I have grown and that my art and work ethic has too. I believe that I am much more confident and proud of the work I make, and appreciating others, especially now that I have a stronger understanding as to the journey and process that we all go through to get to the final stage.

I always knew that the process of anything is quite an essential part however it was not until this semester that I was able to truly understand, see and experience just how important it is, for without the process what is the final piece? I have also been able to learn that the process for every piece is completely different and that some will require more time than others.

When I look back and reflect on all my piece that I have made this semester, I am proud. I look back at my derive project, to my peony flowers, the Le Marais project and of course the remake! All so different yet done by me?! I would never have ever imagined that would make an entire magazine or be able to pull off a piece such as my toilet paper installation. I believe that my creativity has grown not only in what I create with my hands but in my though process as well. An excellent example of that would be my remake for unlike others, we did not go now the typical path of remaking the literal object. We attempted to transform Marcel Duchamp’s process and the creative energy that was going through his mind.

So what is next? A lot, I hope. This semester has been such an important one for my self for I look at it like the foundation of a building, one where I will continue to grown taller with more floors each year. In able to build those new stories, I need a strong base, that base has been this semester.

I look forward to my next studio/seminar class. I hope that I will be able to continue to keep trying my best and pushing my self to create something that will make me happy and proud to share. I look forward to once I have completed this first year. I hope that I will look back and reflect on what I am writing now to see where I started and where I am now.
