Our original idea for our piece was to incorporate the experience of both the sound and sight deprivation into a cohesive, interactive installment. The subject has a clear box lowered onto their heads and watch a film projected onto the screen in front of them (the only light source in the room). While they watch, the only sound that is filtered through their headphones is a faint white noise, simulating the calming yet isolated loss of sound as they watch the film. During the second 30 seconds of their experience, a cloth is lowered over the box and the sound suddenly picks up, simulating the blindness and also, balancing out the sound. However, after discussing this idea with our classmates we may change our concept slightly so it is less literal.
