OSS VISIT REFLECTION: INTERACTIVE GARDEN EXPERIENCE

With my previous visit to the OSS community garden, I was familiar with the garden’s purpose within the community and the people who maintain the organisms collectively. My last visit introduced the individuals who participate in growing plants and vegetables, exploring culture and history of how the garden became what it is with a variety of people who were interviewed. While my knowledge was built on the gardens values in each community of New York, my recounter was revisited in a biological perspective through the lens of sustainability. This visit was interactive, as we work with one another in the garden. I was familiar with the term in gardening, turning over soil, It seemed healthy and appropriate for the gardens needs, however, I did not know that it was a sustainable alternative instead of composting foods to utilize as fertilizer.
