I really like the interior architecture of the Rei Kawabuko/Comme des Garçons exhibition, with its geometrical forms. It therefore inspired for this project.

After the drawings, I make the polyhedron with a classmate :

I did the same one at home, but of the size of my head and then extended it so that the form be more similar to the one of my head.

2nd step : I turned it into a foam board mold.

I had to put tape so that it’d be stronger. This way, the mold can support the plaster, which won’t go in between the pieces when it will be liquid.

Darth vader’s style !

We mix the plaster with water and pour it little by little in the mold. I repeat this action about 6 times.

The a last part of plaster is dry. The mold is now so heavy ..

Time to take it out !

I really enjoy angular forms.

I then wondered what to create that would be on top of my head and would have a function. Suddenly I find what I need : I am very intolerant to sun and have to stay in the shade as much as possible. Thus, I think that a sort of protection against the sun would be very useful to me.
I am also fond of armor, and I go very regularly see some at the MET. This is why I chose to with some kind of thin aluminum. I may be afraid of the sun, but I  claim my right to be a warrior.

Materials :

And now let’s begin !

I want the form of the helmet to follow the one of the plaster head.

The back side, however, will be based on the Fibonacci sequence that we discovered in class : 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 etc

The triangular form balance the rest of the helmet so that it can stay on my head without falling.

Here are some view of the final head. To get this result, I hammered the metal. It was quite physical, and it is something I enjoy.

And on my head!

I have to say that I felt quite in security while wearing it ; which is a very nice feeling.
