When listening to the performance of “Khebar” the musicians experience of their improvisation is not dissimilar to my own experience as an observer. This is the consequence of being born to a dancer. I can recall images of my mom and her community dancing freely together at concerts from my earliest years, this improvisation serving as the basis for my own constitution. As a consequence years later I feel compelled to dance just as freely when exposed to music. It may not look like a choreographed piece or repeat any sort of pattern, but it is my inherent instinct to move and improvise as a result of the traditions in my upbringing.
