Bridge 1: Process Documentation

The idea behind this head mixes two concepts. Firstly, it explores the experience of growing up in a world where technological advances are constantly being made. Growing up in the early 2000’s and 2010’s has allowed me to witness the world change very rapidly due to this new digital age where the internet has become a large part of our lives. The other concept this touches on, for me personality, is how life can easily become very routine, especially when you’ve lived in the same place for most of your life. It’s representing how people sometimes run on auto-pilot in their daily lives.

This head represents, blind joy, naivety, and carelessness. When finalizing the concept for the illustration, I took a more personal stance other than a worldly one.  When I use the term ‘blind joy’ it’s referring to ignorance, but also letting your guard down and having that choice affect you later. I also used naivety, because this is often associated with childlike innocence, and blissful ignorance.

The imagery for this head is pretty straightforward and uses familiar motifs that people usually associate with death and sin. The hooded skull is death, something that is inevitable, while the snakes represent sin, which I also feel is inevitable. Although, I don’t consider myself religious, I still think that people in general do bad things, and no one is exempt from that. But, I also believe good people sometimes do bad things are vice versa.

This head represents sickness. I also took a very personal approach when conceptualizing this illustration. My family is no stranger to sickness, so growing up I witnessed a lot of people in my family get sick and some even passing away.

This head represents life and growth. The idea behind this head was more open and meant to be more of a blanket statement on how people grow and change as they get older, hopefully for the better.
