These flowers were the initial inspiration for the shape and color scheme of my mask. Originally I wanted the mask to look skull-like to represent life and death, but it ended up looking more like a smiley face instead.
I started off with a cardboard base and built the features with masking tape. After making the features I began the paper-mache process and let it dry over night. The next day I painted the flower-inspired color scheme with acrylics.
I made the the flower petals out of cardboard as well and covered them with masking tape for a somewhat smoother texture. I kept the petals attached to the mask with pins and glue.
