  • What location did you visit for your visual research and what did you find?

Various gay nightclubs and other places that queer people found solace and safety in such as their bedrooms or art studios. I found a vibrancy that I have never seen anywhere else. a genuine joy and freedom accompanied by crushing anxiety and social climbing.

  • How did the locations (museum/gallery/etc.) you visited expand/broaden/deepen your understanding of your topic? (this includes: visual, contextual, historical, material based, etc.)

interacting with the people in these spaces is a very different experience, almost like a resurgence of the 90s when the club kids were throwing their parties. There is so much rich visual culture in terms of art and fashion being referenced in outfits and makeup.

  • List the symbols, metaphors and visual references you put in your taxonomy and explain how/why they are relevant/important to your topic. AFTER PEER REVIEW…add the following:

there are not many metaphors in my taxonomy, more symbols. icons and iconography and people that i consider to be emblematic of the scene that i am exploring

  • What did you learn from Monday’s peer review about your taxonomy that was new or helpful?

I didnt really learn anything new, all it did was made me very confident in what i want to persue for this project.

About me: coming from a country where the arts, queer culture and anything subversive or controversial was never given importance or were frowned upon, I am deeply interested in all of those things. Artists and designers like Le Corbusier, Rouchamburg, Margiela and more inspire me and my love for archiving, deconstruction, Dadaism and the grotesque. I am also incredibly passionate about fashion, cinematography and the Marquis de Sade. What I want to bring through in my work is a study of some of my obsessions, both thematically and in execution, some of which are controversial in their content but that's why I chose a school like this where a voice is recognized
