Our group divided our venn diagram into three part: mentally feel like home, physically feel like home and mixed. What I found interesting was that, while reading different pieces of texts I did not overthink the concept,’home’, but I got the idea of home when we needed to do a venn diagram. There could be places that we live as shelters, just for protections and there could be homes that are not where we grew up at but people make them feel like a new home that our souls can rest in.
We put Open City and Budget Motel on the left because people in those texts did not feel that they belong to the places they stayed and felt somehow abandoned by the city.
We put Homeless Shelter and Jail Home on the right because people in Homeless Shelter had made their new shelters into a home that their culture started to fit in and people had been living there for decades. Ang in Jail Home, the case is different because it is just a shelter that people suffered from poverty wanted to get in for ‘sustainable’ food.
We put Running the Family, RV, Foster Care and Between the World& Me in the middle because in all texts, people have a descent physical place to live in and feel that it is home for them.
